    hat's the ONLY thing that works. If the A has reservations about sobriety, they're going to drink again. They have to do it for themselves only. Page 30 of the big book says that we had to FULLY concede to our innermost selves that we were alcoholic. That is the first step in recovery. If step 1 isn't done, the A is going to drink again. Sad but true.
